Defined benefit pension scheme funding: FIS Regulations published

On 29 January 2024, the Government published – and laid before Parliament – the long-awaited updated Occupational Pension Schemes (Funding and Investment Strategy and Amendment) Regulations 2024 (the FIS Regulations). The consultation on the FIS Regulations was launched in July 2022, and received almost 100 responses from interested parties, many of which were concerned about the prescriptive approach that the FIS Regulations seemed to be taking.

Following the Chancellor’s Mansion House speech in July 2023 and the November 2023 Autumn Statement, which suggested a more flexible approach being ushered in for defined benefit schemes, we have prepared a briefing on the key takeaways from the FIS Regulations, which will come into force in April 2024. Click here to view the briefing.
