This article considers the principal proposals included in HM Treasury’s consultation on wholesale markets regulation – the Wholesale Markets Review. A full summary of responses to the consultation is expected to be published early in the New Year, as well as the Government’s plans to take this work forward.
Amongst other things, the Review makes proposals concerning:
- trading venues;
- systematic internalisers;
- equity markets;
- fixed income and derivatives markets;
- market data;
- reporting; and
- commodity markets.
The article was first published in the December 2021 edition of the Butterworths Journal of International Banking and Financial Law.
